Photo Friday: Christchurch’s Little Blue

June 3, 2011

Penguin at the Antarctice Centre, Christchurch, New Zealand

It was feeding time at the Christchurch Antarctic Centre when I took this shot.

The Little Blue penguins at the Centre were rescued by the program there, and most have disabilities that wouldn’t allow them to survive in the wild.

A visit to the Centre, which is right near the airport, is pricey but worth it.

After all, were else but the Antarctic could you experience extreme weather conditions or ride in a genuine all-terrain vehicle used in Antarctica?

Perfect timing 🙂 I went there as well a few years ago, but I don’t remember seeing the penguins. The only thing I remember from that place is going into a room where they had this Antarctic Storm.
