Souvenir stall on the edge of the earth

Souvenir stall on the edge of the earth

As the King’s Highway in Jordan winds its way back out of Wadi Mujib, the two-laned highway is, on some stretches, wide enough for roadside cafes (and I use the word ‘cafe’ loosely) and souvenir stalls to set up shop. It must be lonely work – only one other car passed the entire time we were stopped at this lookout point.

Looking down into the valley, the silence and scope of the canyon is overwhelming. If the King’s Highway isn’t on the list of the world’s greatest roadtrips, it should be.

Did you buy something from the souvenir stall? I think I might have just to give the vendor some company for a few minutes! Wow…what a view!

Our driver sat down and had a tea with him, so I didn't feel too obligated to buy anything 😀
