At dusk, Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Alor is a frenzy of stall-holders setting up their restaurants for the night. Formerly KL’s red light district, Jalan Alor is a long stretch of street stalls and restaurants selling all kinds of Southeast Asian fare. It’s a world away from Bukit Bintang’s megamalls, which are only around the corner.
It can be an intimidating experience, but the easiest way to pick a stall is to follow the crowd and have a look at the picture menus a tout will eagerly proffer for your perusal.
The food is fresh and tasty, and a huge stir-fry and a drink won’t cost more than $3 or so.
