Photo Friday: Positive World Travel in Antigua

July 8, 2011

Anthony and Elise from Positive World Travel in Antigua, Guatemala

During my time in Antigua, I was lucky enough to meet up with fellow Sydneysiders and travel bloggers, Anthony and Elise from Positive World Travel.

It wasn’t the first time I’ve met with people I’ve only spoken to online (much to the horror of my mother, who is convinced that anyone I meet online is stalking me), and Ant and Elise are just how they seem on their travel blogfriendly, interesting and up for anything!

The first time we met we spent a good four hours talking non-stop and when I told them about the hike I was planning to do from Xela with Quetzaltrekkers, they thought it sounded like a pretty good idea and asked if I minded if they came along.

Um, hells no!

Ant and Elise are podcasting, video and blogging extraordinnaires – check out for proof.

LOL it’s funny isn’t it when you meet up with fellow bloggers – I’ve done it a few times and felt like I’ve known them forever but yes, my mother was also rather cautious about it! (Except in one case where she had followed the blog too – I think she then felt she knew them too!). It would be quite an effort for someone to go to “impersonate” being a nice person on a blog only to meet up with you in some random place around the world and then be nasty.

That’s exactly what I think, Amanda – I don’t think I’m quite young enough for someone to cook up an entire alter ego online to stalk me. But hey, I guess you never know! 😀

Thanks for the shout out on your friday photo series. We were amazed at your generosity with bringing us Vegemite all the way from Australia and even going to the extent of buying a pacsafe for us, having not even met in person! You are exactly as you are on your website as well and we were honoured to share the 3 day trek with you. We are looking forward to spending more time with you Guatemala and hopefully we will bump into you throughout our journeys in Central and South America. Bring on Pollo Campero in Antigua! 😉

As I’ve said, it was no trouble! You and Elise are also just how I expected – if not even more fun 😀 Three cheers for Pollo Campero (but no cheers for overly chlorinated ice and strawberries…bleurgh)

Love meetups 🙂 I had so many positive ones in Australia. Can’t wait to hear about the hike.

I love meetups, too – you’ve already got so much common ground to go over, I think it’s much more fun than just meeting randoms.
