Photo Friday: The death railroad…almost

June 17, 2011

A train chugs over the Bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, Thailand

Finally! The tourists hoades had disappeared and I had the famous bridge over the River Kwai, in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, almost all to myself.

I clicked away with my camera, quickly filling up the memory cards with shots I would barely even glance at later. In the distance, I kept hearing some kind of bell. I briefly what it was, but ignored it.

Oops.

Suddenly, a thundering horn blew. I turned – to see a passenger train coming up behind me. Then I realised why the bridge had emptied.

Red-faced and grinning sheepishly, I quickly made it to the safety of a siding to let the train pass. It was, without a doubt, the most excitement I had during my entire brief stay in Thailand.

Haha, I guess you are not the first one who ends up in that situation 🙂 I will definitely keep this in mind when I go there!

Haha probably not! Admittedly the train wasn’t really going very fast, but I’m sure it could still do some damage!
